ZAGREB CITY TOUR

The City Walking Tour includes all the highlights starting from the main square Ban Jelcic continuing to the cathedral, the Dolac farmer’s market, upper town seeing all the monumental attractions and hearing about the capital’s intruiging history and contemporary lifestyle.

TRAKOSCAN CASTLE & VARAZDIN TOUR

North from Zagreb is a real step into the past: a visit to Trakoscan Castle and Varazdin. Dating way back to the 13th century, this exquisite jewel was initially built as a defense fortress and later on extended and readjusted as a residence of the Draskovic noble family. The well preserved castle houses a museum on four levels, with rooms representing various styles of interior decoration.

Afterwards the tour continues to Varazdin, also known as Little Vienna. This town served as Croatian capital for 20 years in the 18th century, and today is the cultural center of Northern Croatia. The Old Town of Varazdin, as another example of a castle in which this region abounds, has a symbolic status for the locals, and the baroque atmosphere of its surroundings invites you to roam through the streets in search of the past.

FULL DAY ZAGREB – PLITVICE NATIONAL PARK – SPLIT TRANSFER

The day starts by taking the A1 highway and with running commentary about the history, customs and local trivialities of the areas you drive through.Free time to explore the park seeing the flora & fauna and best vistas, see webite: https://np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/

UNESCO ISLAND TOWN OF TROGIR & SPLIT HALF DAY CITY TOUR

The tour starts with a 30 min coastal drive to the UNESCO Island town of Trogir, where you’ll walk the cobbled streets, squares, seaside promenade and see the 13th century cathedral of St. Lawrence, the 16th century Venetian Kamerlengo fort, medieval Renaissance palaces, local limestone houses and more.

After experiencing Trogir and hearing about the local history, customs and trivialities you’ll go back to Split for a full walking tour of Diocletian’s Palace and the medieval ‘Old Town’.

After the tour you’ll have free time to explore on your own, do some shopping and indulge in the local cuisine.

SIBENIK & DRNIS TOUR

The day starts with a coastal drive to Sibenik, seeing it’s magnificent medieval heart and gleaming white limestone against the placid waters of the bay. It’s picturesque seaside promenade, stone paved squares, side streets, hill top fortresses, restaurants, cafes are a build up to the Cathedral of St. James, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Over the centuries it’s been the home to acclaimed inventors, scientists, actors & sportspeople and the relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere adds to it’s overall charm.
A short drive inland is the charming rural town of Drnis overlooking the Petrovo field. Here, remnants from the Ottoman era are still present like the 16th century mosque converted into a church and the only remaining Turkish minaret in the country.

Due to the favorable mix of coastal & mountain winds combined with the knowledge & skill of it’s makers, Drnis Prosciutto is labelled as an authentic Croatian product of certified geographic origin.
It’s long international prestige is demonstrated by the fact that it was served in the English court during the Coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II.
In a nearby village a local man runs a family run establishment making award winning prosciutto. He shows & explains the whole process and you’re invited to try your hand at cutting your own slice and complementing it with homemade cheese, bread, season vegetables and domestic Merlot wine.
This is one of the few remaining agrarian locations in the area where you mix with the locals and gain a first hand understanding of this lifestyle.
While in the area there are a couple of really authentic places for lunch.

AUTHENTIC DALMATIAN HINTERLAND TOUR

The day starts with a coastal drive south past the seaside villages and the estuary town of Omis seeing the full beauty of the Dalmatian Coast. You’ll take a tunnel road through the Biokovo massif into the Dalmatian hinterland driving alongside the Dinaric Mountain Range, seeing the hillside villages and hearing about the rural lifestyle. Your destination is the very authentic town of Imotski, where you’ll see the Red & Blue Lakes.

The lakes resulted from irregular limestone where centuries of erosion and underground streams and caverns formed these karst sinkholes. The Red Lake, a subterranean lake, stands out with it’s iron oxide limestone cliff faces which encompass it.

The Blue Lake has several viewpoints and a walkway down to it for keen swimmers. The tour continues with a stroll to the 17th century Topana fort and town center which is built from limestone blocks making it absolutely unique.

To take in the full flavour of the local ambiance you can have lunch at a 300 year old mill converted into a family run tavern a short distance away.

Next to the tavern there is the village bridge over the Vrljika stream with brown trout, ducks and weather permitting meals are served besides the stream under a willow tree.

All the meals are homemade as are the wines, olive oil and the organically grown season vegetables are picked in front of you.

The tavern is visited by locals and hidden gems like this can’t be found online.

The owner in his late 40-ies is a 1990’s Croatian Homeland War veteran and you’ll meet him, his wife and 4 children who all work there.

Here’s a traditional meal:

Starter: homemade prosciutto, pancetta, cheese, olives, seasonal salad & home baked bread.

Main meal: traditional veal roast & potatoes under the iron dome known as the ‘Peka’. Can also choose from lamb, pork or chicken. You see it being prepared.

Dessert: Local homemade Fritule doughnuts.

This is the traditional meal although there are many others you can choose from.

On the way back to Split you’ll take the A1 highway seeing the villages and forts dotted along the hill sides with ample photo opportunities.

ROMAN RUINS OF SALONA & KRKA NATIONAL PARK TOUR

A drive to Split’s neighboring satellite town of Solin to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Salona. Salona dates back to the 2nd century BC and had all the infrastructure of all other Roman towns and reached it’s peak in the 3rd & 4th centuries AD, due to the fact that it was the birth place of Emperor Diocletian. You’ll see the defense walls, aqueduct, basilicas, thermal baths, theater, sarcophagi, amphitheater and more.

Seeing Salona puts the whole Roman era into perspective.

The tour continues by taking he A1 highway to the Krka National Park, walking the wooden paths over the streams, seeing the water powered old limestone grinding mills, Fulling mill and acclaimed waterfalls.

There’s a recreational area where you can go swimming right up to the waterfalls.

You’ll leave the park with a river boat ride downstream to the picturesque riverside village of Skradin.

ISLAND OF BRAC TOUR

Ferry departure from Split to Supetar, Brac. 1 hour commute.

Your first destination is the oldest village called Skrip, where you’ll see the ancient Roman sarcophagi, Venetian villas and centuries old farmers homes made of limestone blocks and hear all about the Brac’s history and contemporary lifestyle of the islanders.

You’ll continue by driving across the island to the popular seaside town of Bol, where you’ll walk the local streets and promenade.

Bol is famous for it’s Golden Horn beach (Zlatni rat), one of the best in Croatia. There are great places for lunch at taverns and family homesteads, one of which is a 20 min drive on a gravel road to a fisherman’s home for catch of the day, organically grown vegetables and home made wine and other beverages. Another great place for lunch is at family home in the center of the island where everything is also organically grown and home made and is an unforgettable slow food destination.

ISLAND OF HVAR TOUR

Ferry or catamaran ride to the island of Hvar, where upon arrival you’ll be taken on a walking tour seeing all the sights and gain a better understanding of the history and present day island life and see why Hvar is a must see.

Hvar has a maze of cobbled streets, scenic coastal walkways, beaches and countless outdoor cafes perfect for ‘people watching’. One of Hvar’s best vistas is from the Spanjola fort which overlooks the town. After taking in the local atmosphere you’ll see more of the island by driving by the lavender fields, vineyards & olive groves, and visiting the seaside & inland villages.

There are numerous lunch options at taverns and family run homesteads and ample places for photo vistas and wine tasting.

FULL DAY SPLIT – MOSTAR IN NEIGHBORING BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA – DUBROVNIK TRANSFER

The day starts by taking the coastal and inland roads to Mostar in neighboring Bosnia & Herzegovina.

After crossing the Croatian / Bosnia & Herzegovinian border you’ll get a full run down of the country, hear all about the local history and life in the present, break up of Yugoslavia and the early 1990’s war. Mostar is known for it’s mix of Ottoman & Christian architecture, maze of cobbled streets, street side cafes, taverns, mosques, churches and it’s famous 16th century Old Bridge which crosses the Neretva River.

Mostar was directly affected in the 1993 war and many of the buildings still pay testimony to that period, although nowadays is very safe and increasingly popular.

The cuisine in Mostar has a distinct oriental influence like different kebabs, finger shaped ground meat balls called Cevapi, baclavas, Turkish coffee and more.

Note: Close to Mostar there’s a family run farm to table establishment where all the food is organically grown & homemade. The family offer traditional meals and cater for vegetarians.

Duration: 8 hours. Night in Dubrovnik.

CAVTAT – SRDJ HILL – DUBROVNIK TOUR

A coastal drive south to the picturesque seaside town of Cavtat, where you’ll walk the limestone cobbled streets, squares, promenade and see the villas and houses and hear all about the local history & customs while having a drink at one of the many street side cafes.

Cavtat was directly affected in the early 1990’s war and you’ll hear all about that period.

After Cavtat you’ll drive back towards Dubrovnik making a slight detour to the Srdj hill top which overlooks Dubrovnik the coastline and nearby islands.

You’ll then drive down to Dubrovnik’s old town for a full tour seeing all the sights.

Duration: 4.5 hours. Night in Dubrovnik.

ISLAND OF KORCULA & PELJESAC PENINSULA FULL DAY TRIP

It starts with a coastal drive along the Peljesac peninsula to the town of Orebic where you’ll take a boat over to the Island of Korcula, the birth place of Marco Polo!

You’ll be led on a walking tour hearing about the local history and loads of interesting tid bits.

After free time you’ll head back to the Peljesac peninsula to the medieval walled town of Ston.

It’s walls were built in the 16th century and at that time were the second longest defense walls in the world after the Great Wall of China!

You can walk part of the walls, see the ancient Roman salt flats and stroll through the cobbled streets of the town.

Ston is the oyster and mussels capital of Croatia and the restaurants & taverns specialize in the local cuisine and predominate zinfandel wines.

There are excellent local taverns along the way where you can try the local cuisine.

Duration: 8 hours. Night in Dubrovnik.

FULL DAY MONTENEGRO TOUR

Departure from Dubrovnik driving south by the local villages and crossing the Croatian / Montenegrin border.

Your destination is Kotor, a medieval walled town on the coast situated in the Bay of Kotor and is famous for it’s maze of streets, old seafarer’s villas, it’s unique history, defense walls encircling the town and old fortress. You’ll be led on a walking tour through the town and have all your questions answered.

After Kotor you’ll continue south along the Adriatic road to the former Venetian seaside walled town of Budva seeing the sights.

The price is 280 euros and includes transport and guided walking tour of Kotor.
